BOEKENHOUTSKLOOF
Boekenhoutskloof was established in 1776. Situated in the far corner of the beautiful Franschhoek Valley, the name of the farm means 'Gorge of the Boekenhout' (pronounced Book-n-Howed). Boekenhout is an indigenous Cape beech tree that is highly prized for furniture making.
Boekenhoutskloof is the magical little wine farm where they raise the bar when it comes to creating some of South Africa's finest wines.
The fertile Franschhoek Wine Valley is home to some of South Africa's finest varieties and classic styles. These range from superb whites such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Semillon and Chenin Blanc to full-bodied reds such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Pinot Noir and Merlot.
As a producer, Boekenhoutskloof is a Syrah specialist, with its premium Boekenhoutskloof range selling out on release each vintage, and The Chocolate Block – a Syrah based blend – is probably the most successful new wine offering to come out of South Africa in the modern era. The Porcupine Ridge range of delicious, everyday wines is a firm favourite on tables throughout the world – offering great value and superb drinking.
